Gerbera varieties form the foundation of our offering at Kwekerij de Zuidplas. We cultivate a wide range of varieties, each with unique characteristics. From classic red and white gerberas to trendy pastel shades, our assortment matches every trend and season. This diversity enables florists and wholesalers to create creative and eye-catching bouquets.

Our gerberas are known for their sturdy stems and long vase life. This makes them ideal for both everyday bouquets and special occasions. We closely follow the latest trends and regularly expand our assortment with innovative varieties. This allows us to respond to the changing demands of the market.

The Most Popular Gerbera Varieties

Some of our most requested gerbera varieties are the classic red 'Rich', the sunny yellow 'Sunshine', and the romantic pink 'Sweetheart'. These varieties are loved for their strong stems and intense colors. Florists especially appreciate our double gerberas, such as the 'Pomponi' series, for their full appearance and unique look in bouquets.

Yellow and orange gerberas bring sunny energy to arrangements. Our 'Tangerine Dream' stands out for its vibrant hue. This cheerful flower is popular for summer bouquets and festive occasions. Pastel-colored gerbera varieties have gained popularity in recent years. Our 'Blush' and 'Lavender Mist' varieties are in demand for weddings and other special events.

Seasonal Gerberas and Their Unique Features

In addition to our regular assortment, we also offer seasonal gerbera varieties. In spring and summer, the focus is on vibrant colors, while in autumn and winter we grow warmer and deeper shades. Our hardy gerberas are a special addition, specially bred to withstand colder temperatures.

For the holidays, we grow special varieties, such as the sparkling 'Sparkle' for Christmas and the pastel-colored 'Easter Joy' for Easter. These unique varieties give florists the opportunity to create distinctive, seasonal arrangements. Our spring collection radiates freshness with pastel colors like soft pink and light yellow. The 'Spring Breeze' gerbera, with its soft, creamy white color, is ideal for those who love a natural look.

Sustainable Cultivation of Gerberas: Our Innovative Approach

At Kwekerij de Zuidplas, sustainability is central to our cultivation of gerbera varieties. Our production concept is designed to be environmentally friendly. We reuse water and nutrients, resulting in a 30% saving on water consumption. This approach not only reduces environmental impact but also results in healthier and stronger gerberas.

We apply the latest cultivation techniques to optimize the growth of our gerbera varieties. By using LED lighting, we can maintain consistent production throughout the year. Our greenhouses are equipped with climate computers that precisely control temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels. This precision ensures the ideal conditions for every gerbera variety.

Biological Pest Control for Healthy Gerberas

Biological pest control plays a crucial role in our cultivation of gerbera varieties. We use natural predators to keep pests under control. This significantly reduces the need for chemical agents. Predatory mites and other beneficial insects maintain a natural balance in our greenhouses. This method results in healthier plants and higher quality flowers.

Our growers monitor the health of the gerberas daily. At the first signs of a pest, we deploy the right natural enemies in a targeted way. This approach requires specific knowledge and experience. Our experts know exactly which gerbera varieties are susceptible to which pests. This way, we keep our flowers healthy and strong in a natural way.

Energy-Efficient Production of Top-Quality Gerberas

Sustainability goes hand in hand with energy-efficient production for our gerbera varieties. We use a combined heat and power (CHP) system to generate energy efficiently. This installation produces both electricity and heat, allowing us to meet most of our energy needs ourselves. As a result, we save up to 30% on our annual energy consumption.

In addition, we have invested in solar panels on our company buildings. These provide a significant portion of our electricity needs. Thanks to these measures, we have reduced our CO2 emissions by 40% compared to traditional cultivation methods. This sustainable approach contributes to the quality of our gerberas and enables us to deliver top-quality flowers all year round.
