At Kwekerij de Zuidplas, water forms the foundation for the cultivation of our gerberas. From the first raindrop on the greenhouse roof to smart reuse inside the greenhouse, we are committed to a sustainable, circular water system in which every drop is valuable and optimally utilized.

2. Collecting and draining rainwater
At Kwekerij de Zuidplas, we collect rainwater directly via the greenhouse roof.
3. The water basin of Kwekerij de Zuidplas
The water collected via the roof and pipes ends up in the water basin of Kwekerij de Zuidplas.
4. Preparing food for the gerberas
The water is first filtered, and then the enrichment of the water with nutrients begins.
5. Providing food for the gerberas
The enriched water is precisely directed to the plants via a drip system.
6. Collecting residual water in the dirt drain
The water that is not absorbed by the plants flows to a so-called wastewater silo.
7. Filtering the residual water
The collected residual water is subsequently filtered to make it suitable for reuse.
8. Reusing rainwater from the clean water silo
After filtering, the water is stored in a clean water silo.
9. Mixing the filtered water with new rainwater
The filtered water is mixed with fresh rainwater.
10. What do we do with the water that is not used after filtering?
The enriched water is precisely directed to the plants via a drip system.
